It is said that a dam is more than an amenity, it is a treasure! It doesn’t just carry water, it carries life. Nkwashi man-made dam is just that. It is nature’s life work in song. The Nkwashi Dam is home to many animal species, fish, and birds such as ducks, Kingfishers and the mighty Fish Eagles that depend on the dam for survival. Not only is the dam of benefit to animals, but also to both residents of Nkwashi and visitors.
A sail of the dam on a Canoe helps relieve stress, depression and anxiety for canoe riders. The view by the dam provides a therapeutic sunset at the end of a long day, refreshing as dusk unfolds into night time. The waters of the Nkwashi Dam are indeed soothing!
The public is welcome to enjoy picnics, fishing, canoeing and sundowners, as services offered by The Chena Art House at Nkwashi.
